Keith Francique is now 4 years old, but his life has not been the same since visiting Stroger Hospital.  Keith had a testicle which needed to be removed from his body cavity, which occasionally happens to young boys if their testicles don't descend.  A routine surgery turned terrible in December of 2011 for the Francique family.The sedation used during the surgery may have contributed to Keith suffering from cardiac arrest.  He was taken to a recovery room after surgery and left alone for minutes when he stopped breathing.  The medical staff at Stroger Hospital initiated CPR after his …

According to a new survey by adults.co.uk, the cost of a divorce is the second most traumatic part of a marriage break-up.The website, aimed specifically at single people who have gone through a serious break-up, asked members which elements of their divorces they found were the hardest to deal with. Unsurprisingly, emotional turmoil was at the top of the list. A new study has concluded that couples who share household duties are at a higher risk of divorce than those marriages where the wife does most of the chores. Researchers found that the divorce rate was actually fifty percent higher.The study, entitled "Equality in the Home", was conducted in Norway. The Daily News recently interviewed one of its co-authors, Thomas Hansen, about the results and what they mean. A 63-year-old Vietnam veteran died on January 24 after a car hit him while he was crossing a street near his home in Hillside. William Higbee was crossing Wolf Road near Washington Street in his wheelchair when a southbound truck crashed into him. “It was dark out and he crossed into a shadowy area and they just didn’t see him,’’ according to Hillside Police Chief Joe Lucaszek.In the crash, Higbee suffered multiple injuries to his legs, pelvis and face. A man who said he was deprived of prescribed epilepsy medication while serving a prison sentence at Statesville Correction Center was awarded $12 million in damages by a federal jury. The man suffered permanent injuries from the deprivation, according to the lawyers who represented the man. According to Chicago police, a 24-year-old man is charged with failing to report a fatal accident in November. The Logan Square man allegedly failed to report a fatal hit-and-run crash. The Chicago Tribune reported a story on this reckless driver.The 24-year-old driver, Alexander Villa, of the 2900 block of West Altgeld Street, has been identified as the driver in a crash that killed another driver and wounded a passenger, according to police. An elderly man lost control of a vehicle and crashed into the Lincoln Park Apple store on January 13 in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, according to the Chicago Tribune. One person was injured in the unlikely accident and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital to be treated. A 57-year-old truck driver was killed in Bensenville on January 7 after being pinned between his truck and a post, according to the Chicago Tribune. The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a custody case that involves a custody battle between the biological father and the adoptive parents of a three year old Cherokee girl. At issue is the child’s Native American heritage and whether or not a federal law, the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978, applies in this case.Matt and Melanie Capobianco legally adopted the little girl in 2009.
