Five Things That Women Can Do to Get Over Divorce

Posted on November 27, 2013 in Family Law

Many experts claim that divorce is more emotionally traumatic for women that it is for men. There are many different reasons for this theory such as women being more idealistic about divorce and the supposed more emotional states of women. According to The Huffington Post, there are a few things that woman can do to help themselves get over the divorce quicker and move on with their lives.

Some women, by nature, will dwell on the relationship and wonder what she did wrong. Even if the man was at fault, she will still want answers. She may have a hard time letting go and continue checking his email, stalking his social media accounts and things like that, all just to see if he is having as much of a hard time moving on as she is. This is the time to concentrate on you and take your life back.

Start with the bedroom. Whether you were married for decades or just a short time, the bedroom will have many memories. Get rid of those old linens and buy some girly sheets that are full of flowers and bright colors. Splurge on those Egyptian cotton linens with the high thread counts.

Next, get some new lingerie and underwear. Chances are, most of what you have now you bought for his benefit. Get something that makes you feel hot. It is amazing how a few undergarments can make you feel great even after a divorce.

Don’t be afraid to date yourself. Is there a place that you have always wanted to go? Why not romance yourself? Enjoy your meal alone with a glass of wine and a decadent dessert. Don’t worry about having to seem interesting to anyone else but you.

If you are feeling lonely, get a pet. They are great for unlimited snuggles and a few extra smiles when the days are rough.

Lastly, get rid of the things that remind you of him. Look around your house and decorate for you. Get that outrageous paint color that he would have never agreed to and get rid of the things that he bought that you have always hated.

While divorce can be hard, your Illinois divorce attorney can turn it into a liberating experience for you by providing the representation that you deserve.
